Languages International Teacher Publishes Course Book

Our Director of Teacher Training, Craig Thaine, has just published a Listening and Speaking Skills book with Cambridge University Press.

Craig wrote Listening and Speaking 2 together with Sally Logan and attended the launch of the book in Cambridge in mid March. Listening and Speaking 2 is part of the brand-new Cambridge English Skills series that aims to help students develop all four language skills in the classroom or working on their own. The series covers all levels from elementary to upper intermediate. Craig and Sally’s book is for pre intermediate level students.

“Writing the book was a great experience”, says Craig. “It took almost two years from signing the contract to actually having the book in my hand, but I learnt a huge amount during that process. The editorial support from Cambridge University Press was excellent”.

24 Hours on the Open Sea Makes Languages International a Great Place to Be...

This weekend 22 students and 4 teachers boarded the good ship Nick’s Cruises for a fun-packed sail around Auckland’s harbour islands. First stop was the stunning volcano, Rangitoto. Some of us made the 45 minutes climb to the top and got treated to breath-taking views while the rest stayed on the boat and fished. One of our Japanese students brought her Sashimi knife so we could all enjoy the fresh catch for dinner. As the sun went down, some students took over the DJing with their ipods and others played cards and chess under the starlit sky. The next morning we were up bright and early for a swim and chance to relax, play beach cricket or walk around Motuihe Island. After a delicious lunch, it was a leisurely cruise back to Auckland, the sun still shining in the clear autumn sky.
