My Weekend

I had really nice weekend, my friend and I go to the seafood festival. Before this, we had travel on the ship and we could see the regatta and beautiful view around us. It's was like small excursion. It's as really amazing, but to tell the truth the weather was not so good for regatta.
The seafood festival was amazing, so many different fish and different courses. Best of all I like atmosphere in this holiday.

Fabulous Auckland

Auckland is a great and warm city. When you walk in the streets you can see A LOT of different people, from different cities or countries. Aucklanders are not the most friendly people in the world but they are still really social.

You can see very different looks when you walk by such as gothics, 80s fans or barefoot walking lovers. The streets are like in San Fransisco lot of crazy faces or looks and all of the streets go UP AND DOWN. You can't get lost in Auckland, you can always look for the Skycity tower.

The most amazing thing is that if you want to leave the city and get some fresh air, it is really to do.
You can see great beaches near from town or go hiking not so far from Auckland.

My Languages International Homestay Family

I live with a homestay family in Morningside. I live with a man and his wife and his daughter. They are a wonderful family. My homestay father is very friendly and funny, and he's always happy.

Every day my homestay mother cooks different food, sometimes she is cooking rice with chicken with some salad. I like this kind of food! My room is big and its always clean. My home is not far from my school, only fifteen minutes. I will stay there for another three weeks, and after that I will return to Saudi Arabia.

The Weather in NZ

I'm a student at Languages International in NZ. I like NZ because it has very nice weather. I like this weather because it rains and is warm at the same time! Sometimes, it's very cold and freezing, but now it's fantastic because it's not cold. Every day is sunny and warm which is very good for travelling in NZ. Now I know a lot of beautiful places!

The weather in NZ is different from the weather in my country.

The Last Big Pub Crawl

Friday afternoon at 4pm, a big crowd of Languages International students was waiting outside 27 for James and the pub crawl crew.

After the pub-list and a competition paper had been handed out to the students, we all started walking towards Anzac Street where our first stop would take place.
Happily and safely we arrived in Fordes Front Bench. Whereas some of us headed straight away for the bar, the others started to fill in the competition paper, which was about the history of New Zealand. After an almost never ending time of smelling the Kiwi sausages, which were prepared for us, we finally were allowed to eat them.

Well fed and satisfied we moved towards the next pub, The Northern Steamship. Because of the different discounts we were encouraged to invest our precious money in local liquids.
Although we had a great time there, we went to Traffic where we were welcomed with live music and delicious fish and chips. Everyone was in a good mood and the first people started dancing. The time was running and we headed to Provedore for the rest of the evening.

Thanks for organising the nice and enjoyable evening!

Four Great Things to Do in Rotorua and Taupo

In the holidays, we went to Rotorua and Taupo. They were really nice places but the smell was not good.

When we arrived in Rotorua it was raining so we couldn’t do many activities.
First, we tried the Gondola and luge. You can choose three levels when you luge: Beginner Intermediate and Advanced. We liked Advanced because it was more exciting than the others.

In the evening we went to the Polynesian Spa to rest. There are 8 hot springs there.

The third thing we did was the Huka Falls Jet. It is a jetboat that turns and goes very quickly.
We think the speed was more than 100/Km per minute. That was so funny, so we won’t be able to ever forget about that.

We stayed at a backpackers every day and so we prepared our meal and some food by ourselves.

We all came from different nations and we were very close and helped each other. We were really happy and enjoyed our trip.

The Learning Centre

On the first day at school I was at the Learning Centre. Tom (the Learning Center Manager) explained to us "new students" what we could do in the Learning Center (LC).

The LC has a lot of things to do to improve your English. There are some computers with programs to learn. For example, they have some programs for listening, speaking and reading. The students have their own password to use the computers. The school has a lot of computers so you can use them most of the time. The LC also has DVD's that you can watch in school time. What school can you usually go to that you can do this at? :-) It's a great idea to listen to the English language and maybe learn some new words. The LC has a big library with books. You can read these books in the LC or you can borrow them and read them at home. The books have different categories so you can choose the right one for your level.

The LC also has different magazines and newspapers to read. In the LC you can do your homework. When you have a problem there are always teachers there that can help you.

When I was there, I asked a teacher for conversation practice to improve my speaking. Every morning at 9:30 there is a little group of people who get a topic to talk about. It's always funny and you meet some new students.
For me, the LC is very helpful. I go every day because it's silent there and I can do my homework.

After school we have some social programme activities, so I always do my homework late at night at home or the next morning in the LC.

Business English Interview

M: Hi Joy, good morning .

J: Good morning Monica. How are you ?

M: I am good thanks. How was your weekend ?

J: It was great. I went to Mission Bay with my friends. We enjoyed our time there.

M: Wooow that's great. Listen, can I ask you some questions about your English Business course?

J: Yes, sure. Ask me anything.

M: Wooow that's great. Listen, can I ask you some questions about your English Business course?

J: Actually, I like my business class, because I learnt a lot of business vocabulary and some information about business. My teacher is Emma and she is really a wonderful teacher. She is very friendly and kind. The course will be a bit difficult if you don't have any information about business. But it is really a good course.

M: So, do you recommend it to me?

J: Well, if you like it why not?! Try something new. I'm sure that you will enjoy it.

M: Hummm, well I guess I'm going to write my name on the list and I'll try the business course.

J: That's good. Believe me it's a really good class. Just imagine that you are wearing a business suit and you are going to the meeting… cool yeah !

M: Yeah that's cool ! Can you show me your text book after the afternoon class? Because I have to go now!

J: Yes, of course. I'll see you after the class then.

M: Ok. Enjoy your afternoon class.

J: Ok I will. See you!

My Police Visit in Auckland

The Languages International School of Auckland made it possible for me to see the Police department in Auckland. In Switzerland, I work for the Police in Zurich, so it was very interesting to visit them.

Some things are similar to Zurich and others are very different. The biggest difference is the number of officers. In Switzerland there are more officers than in New Zealand. Maybe Switzerland is more dangerous than New Zealand?! :-)

The officers were very friendly and showed me some parts of the department. I was able to see the jail, cars and a lot of other things. It was very exciting, and it was very kind of them to explain everything to me. It was also very kind of the Languages International School of Auckland to organize my visit. Thank you very much.
