Fundrasing for Christchurch

Over the last two weeks, Languages International has held series of events to raise money for Christchurch earthquake relief efforts.

Red and Black Day
The first event was a Red and Black Day. Friday, 4 March was National Red and Black Day. People all over New Zealand were encouraged to wear red and black clothes to show support for Christchurch, and to donate to the New Zealand Red Cross. Red and black are Christchurch’s colours; their sports teams traditionally wear red and black uniforms. To show solidarity with Christchurch, students and staff at Languages International Auckland dressed in red and black. They also brought gold-coin donations for Christchurch. Languages International's Red and Black Day raised $950 for earthquake relief efforts. That same night, there was also a student Hawaiian Party, which raised a further $469.40.

Fundraising Morning Tea
Last Thursday in Auckland, Languages International staff held a fundraising morning tea. The event was organised by Sally, one of our teachers. Teachers and admin staff baked delicious sweet and savoury treats, which were sold for $2 each. Students and staff gave generously, and $990.60 was raised, bringing the grand total from all three events to $2,410 for Christchurch relief work. The money will be donated to the Red Cross.

Christchurch update: March 2

As a result of the earthquake on February 22nd, we are still unable to get access to our school building at 69 Worcester Boulevard. We have been looking for temporary alternative space this week with the intention of starting to provide classes again from Monday 7th March. We are now looking into some good possibilities, and are confident that we will be ready to start classes again as planned. When we have confirmed our new arrangements, we will post a message on this page and inform our students and global partners by email and text message.
If you have any specific enquiries, please phone us +64 9 309 0615 or email at info@languages.ac.nz.
